This year, Mayum Mountain will provide publications, classes, and group practices related to helping folks bring Tibetan Buddhist practices into their lives, whether they are young or old, rich or poor, sick or well.
Current Resources for Young Adults:
Mayum Mountain celebrated our first two publications this year: Buddhist young adult novels Excavating Pema Ozer and The Buddha of Lightning Peak by our director, Yudron Wangmo. We will be releasing the third in her four-part collection, If I Live in June, 2017. You can read more about Wangmo’s writing for youth at her website, here. She has ongoing vlog primarily for the benefit of young adults.
Current Resources for Older Adults:
A three-year program for people over fifty-years-old kicked off in Oakland, California on July 22nd with a Guru Rinpoche initiation by Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche. We congratulate the nine people who committed to completing a ten million Vajra Guru mantra accumulation and the one who committed to completing ten million Mani mantra accumulation in this time frame.
We will continue to provide support for this group of practitioners, hosting periodic teachings with Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche during the 2016 to 2019 time frame and beyond.
Group Practice at Ngakchang Gatshal in Oakland, California
Ngakchang Gatshal “Happy Garden of Practitioners" is a private residence for non-monastic Vajrayana practitioners in Oakland, CA, unaffiliated with any other organization. It was consecrated in February, 2017. Small group practices are held according to the lunar calendar, on the full and new moons and on the 10th and 25th day of the month according to traditional Tibetan calendar. In addition, we hold larger formal group practices approximately twice a month. We periodically host visiting teachers, mainly from the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. See the schedule tab above, and drop us a line before showing up so we have everything available you will need to have a satisfying practice experience.
