If you only want to know about Bay Area events with Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche use this link to sign up for a local email list. Rinpoche does not have a national/international email list. The best approach is to check his website for new dates as they are posted.

Happy Garden of Practitioners

Ngakchang Gatshal.jpg

Named Ngakchang Gatshal Ling by Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche, the Happy Garden of Practitioners is an unaffiliated private residence for  Buddhist practitioners in Oakland.  Small group practices are held in the practice space according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, on the full and new moons and on the 10th and 25th day of the month. In addition, we hold larger formal group practices once or twice a month on weekends. We host visiting teachers from time to time, mainly from the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.

We are traditionalists here, who respect our lineage teachers and have deep gratitude to the Tibetan and Himalayan people for keeping pure dharma flourishing for more than 1,000 years.

Drop us a line before you come, so we have everything available you will need to have a satisfying practice experience.

Mayum Mountain’s director  has two major publications: Buddhist young adult novels Excavating Pema Ozer and The Buddha of Lightning Peak by our director, Lopon Yudron. We hope to release the third in her four-part series,  If I Live, later this year. You can read more about Wangmo’s writing for youth at her author website, here. She has ongoing vlog primarily for the benefit of young adults. We also make practice texts to support the people who practice together at the Happy Garden. We have also published a limited-edition collection of common Nyingma prayers that we call Companion Volume, and a Vajrakilaya text.
